Hi All:
I've just got through testing by critical listening and testing with a lab quality
capacitor analyzer. The listening environment was at a high profile studio here in Nashville with several "name" engineers around me. I ended up choosing the Solen MKP after many hours of testing. All of the caps tested and sounded good but the price was the determining factor. The values were .1/400V and .22/600V. The the application was a KT88, 50W ultra-linear. I know I'm going to hear "I don't use coupling caps in my amps, and that great when you can get away with it. The design of this amp requires it.
The brands I tested were: (all poly-pros)
Rel Cap.
MIT MultiCap
AuraCap
MusiCap
Back to my original question.
Have any of you used Solen caps as coupling caps.
I don't want to pay $27.00 for a cap if I don't have to.
I would be interested in your thoughts.
Thanks
RonL
