TT Project progress...lots to learn

Well the other day I joined the forum with great enthusiasm, and boldly boasted of my plan for a platter and bearing, but y'know what? That's really the easiest part, I'm finding out.

Now I'm all gung ho over building an arm. At first I liked the idea of an air bearing arm, but then I studied the thread on the Schroeder arm and decided that is a great arm to build. Wood- looks great for an armwand so I sopped by the exotic wood place tonight and picked up a nice piece of African Blackwood. Very dense. Used for making bagpipes.

I have the idea of lining it with some thin walled tubing. Stainless is available. I have no problems at all machining parts, drilling long straight holes, etc, so MAKING the comoponents is goiong to be fairly easy for me. It's stuff like RESONANCE that is starting to give me fits.

I'm not out to make the last word in turntables, but I want to come close.

If any of you out there have some good links for a dimwit like me to go to to learn the basic fundamentals of turntable design, I'd really appreciate it. Starting with resonance...then maybe anti skating......

Thanks in advance!
