Hello there,
we have several RCF and OEM Drivers of the L15-P200... Range. All of them are blown and we want to recone them (we do that all the time, we know how to - I just hate to see all those drivers wasted while lying around doing nothing and beeing broken).
Some are EAW, some Original RCF, some Vitavox, etc... 8 and 4 Ohm Models.
The problem is: Although RCF claims the recent recone Kit to fit all Models, even the old ones, the don´t fit... We are having a hard time to get accurate Information on all of the different models, some 4 Ohm seem to have different geometrie than 8 Ohm...
I found several sources on the web for recone kits from aftermarket suppliers for old models or OEM RCF Speakers. Sadly none of the sellers can give me 100% guarantie they will fit, seems all of them simply want to ship the closed box, nobody really hast exakt Information on cone height, VC depth, Spider geometrie, etc... RCF doesn´t answer, the German distribution is only repeating whats in the catalog, etc...
Does anybody have some accurate Information on any of these drivers? I´d like to collect all in order to get those old goodies to work (Maybe I even will get seperate VC, Surrounds, Spider, Cones and put them to a new Kit...).
Thanx for your help

Hi Sabbelbacke
The L15P200 (AK) is the longest driver in production from RCF and has seen more face lifts than Berlusconi will ever have... As you already found out, each series represent a driver on its own. Some believe it wasn’t that much different for their cars, wash machines or anything that was proudly labelled 'made in Italy' at that time. I prefer to call it Italian charm and if you stay for a while in Toscana (Tuscany)
, everything in life becomes relative.
In the best Italian tradition the answer from RCF was always simple "our recone fits all current models" which you can explain as, don’t blame us if it doesn’t fit. Although not all models are in this link, it does offer a good overview of what you can expect. It doesn’t mention the MKI and MKII versions. These new labels were introduced under Mackie supervision, I guess a desperate attempt to make things easier…🙄
Now RCF has become an Italian company once again, things can go back to usual....
Perhaps we will see a new model 15P200AKMKIIModelB 😀

Thanx for your info. This link I already knew. Sadly it provides no further information on the exakt dimensions oft the recone kits/etc...
Toscana is great, been there two times in my youth...

Hi Sabbelbacke,
I see, that is going to be difficult to find out. Usually trail and error is needed with these 3rd party parts...
(indeed it's a great region)

My hope is that some guys had some of thes old drivers or even some old recone kits and that someone could "take a look".... We´ll see 🙂
Thanks, I fonund another resource with mckenzy recone kits suitable for L15P200AK, but since the AK (1) seems to have different geometries as well (8 Ohm differs from 4 Ohm, sigh..) it was difficult to narrow down the exact details. I give your link a shot and ask if they have more exact details. Thank you.
@ Sabbelbacke
It's dispicable that you can't get any sensible/accurate data from vendors. Even worse are No Replies 🙁

Hi Sabbelbacke,
Although my memory isn’t what it used to be, I thought the original RCF 4Ohm recones for the first series of the L15P200AK could also be mounted in an 8 Ohm basket as well.
Indeed, McKenzie offers a EAW 804052 recone-kit for the EAW SB150 subwoofer. It should be a L15P200AK kit but looks like it is the high Fs (38Hz) version. In that case you might be better off with an original RCF recone set.
