hey guys i finished my pj which is hooked to my pc and kept at around three feet away from the computer in a month of running testing the pj two of my hdd's conked ... after quite a headache and replacing the ballast with an electronic ballast things are going good .. wish i had gone for electronic in the first place
list of thing affected when pj is fired
my crt moniter - starts flickering real bad (kinda zoom in zoom out effect also seen)
hdd becomes really noisy and system slows down real bad
cell phone display screws any where in the room
the lcd in the pj also seems to jitter a bit every now and then
so stick to electronic ballast your pj will be lighter and safer for everything alse around it.

heya trev you lucky, maybe its our power supply here my ,hdd did blow twice but i get free replacements so its kinda ok as for shielding its in mdf box shouldn't that be enough or am i missing some thing..i like the electronic ballast i got now its very small and lightwieght..for those who have already picked up a mag ballast no need to change if all is ok but if certain strange problems keep coming up you might want to think about a change... if buying new i would suggest an electronic ... well it's only a suggestion

Heya buddy MDF wont sheild anything, make an aluminium box and that will sheild magnetic feilds, make sure it can breathe though so it can stay cool.
