Troels again...ATIRI

Probably another decent design. I am no fan of PRs, and one has to ask how well an 8 can do reaching up to a ribbon. It is really nice to see my style of holey brace. They work well.

I have heard something sort of similar. A2-way Decca prototype with Decca London and an 8: in a sealed box. They were really quite stunning at teh time.

For the price asked, even the "cheaper" option, there are far better options.
It's a normal 6.5" mid-bass + tweeter speaker, with a slightly too high than ideal crossover point, a power response (as can be seen from the off-axis FR) not that great, diffraction problems from the chosen tweeter housing, using really expensive drivers that aren't better than some cheaper ones.
I also find the speakers ugly, but this is only a personal opinion.

If you want to build a 2-way with a 6" driver, the Kairos is a far better option. If you want to build a speaker with a roughly 25x60 cm baffle, you can also build a 3-way for almost the same footprint. Just as an example the Seas 3-way Classic Mk1 from TG will sound without any doubt better than probably any 2-way with a 6" mid-bass.

i do not understand the idea of that type of bracing, if bracing is for stiffening the box then this looks suboptimal, if it is a flexing bracing then this looks suboptimal too. this looks for airflow and eye candy only, and by that very strange to me

It is actually optimal, the circular holes leaving a very strong panel remaining. The target is typically 30-40% holes, above that it starts to weaken.

I also like to use this to brace the driver, sharing its reactive energy to more box panels so that any one panel gets significantly less energy pumped into it.

We started using these about a decade & a half ago, have worked out REALLY well and the technique has been used often and is spreading in popularity. That it has reached Troels and gotten his blessing is satisfying.

thanks for your technical input, I really appreciate, and you're right, Troels need a designer ;-)
Kairos look great, especially with the bass module, two steps design.
I will dig that way...thanks
