I'd bet that this is board layout rather than chip related.

Try doing these steps in order, each one individually and see if it changes.
If you have a pot hooked to the metal grounded case, un-screw it and hang it off to the side so it will be completely isolated from the case.
Make sure your inputs, both ground and pos. are isolated from the case.
If your PSU ground is hooked to the case, try un-hooking that.
Try those. In mine, my earth ground is hooked to the case with a 10ohm resistor. Even though my inputs were completely isolated from the case, the pot shaft was not. I isolated the shaft and nuts and it worked.
