Hello everyone,
In using a triode that has two diodes (6AT6, 6AV6), if I'm just using the triode, can the diodes be left "hanging" or should they be grounded?
Thanks
Ray

Magnavox used 6AT6 tubes in their console amps. They left the diodes disconnected.
The 6AT6 is similar to a 5751. I have used them in the same circuit topology without the diodes connected and they performed fine.

Useful thread - I was wondering the same thing. I have no knowledge about radios and what the diodes are used for. So grounding them to the cathode doesn't affect the way the triode functions in any way? You just join the pins up? Or should you join the 2 diode pins to ground in preference?
Tie unused electrodes to ground. No parasitics - No RF pickup. We live in an RF rich environment now, at 900 MHz and 2 and 5 GHz.

"The 6AT6/EBC90 double diode triode had been successfully used in the Neophyte Amplifier of 1969 as input voltage amplifier and the author used the design for the phase inverter in the simplex stereo experiments. Having purchased a number of these small valves, it was natural to use another. The 6AT6 can be regarded as close to half an ECC83 but much cheaper. The unused diodes were strapped to ground."

From the above, the suggested alternatives are leave the diodes open or connect them to ground.
