Is it easy to modifie it so i can use remote control?

Or maybe there will be a remote control for the trend pre amp?

What do you guys think of Auricaps 2.2 450VDC and Blackgate STD 16v 2200uf for replacement caps?

I have used Auricaps in any number of applications and they are my capacitor of choice for upgrades in signal path applications (coupling and crossovers). I use the 2.2 MFD caps in a modified SI T-Amp and IMO, there is a marked improvement in the overall sound. Auricaps are offered as input caps in one of the AudioMagus modification kits designed by Michael Mardis. I feel comfortable recommending Auricaps.

I have not tried the Blackgates for the power supply, nor do I recall anyone posting that they had. If you opt to do so, please, post your impressions.

They're expensive but were one of my favorites for coupling cap use too. They're tiny compared to these Obbligato caps. I also found some 50-63V MKT film caps to sound very good and are much smaller and cheaper to boot.

Hello ,

I need some help hooking up a pre amp to the trends.... I think this might help the passive cap coupled output stage of my Squeezebox.

What I want to do is use the trends as a power amp and hook up the pre boards directly to the trends ( without Interconnects)

I got a ALPS 10 K stereo pot with it, But also have my 50k PEC carbon pot from Diyhifisupply... The PEC should be better but is 50k instead of the recommended 10K ( Greg) THe pre boards have about 6db gain. Can I use the PEC?

Is this the right order?
Input RCA's trends --- Volume pot---- SKpre ---- Trends ta-10

So I unsolder the trends input RCA's and lead them to the volume pot , And use the now free input holes of the trends to hook up the SKpre directly?

You need an input cap. The issue in not blocking DC from the pre to the TA-10. The issue is blocking DC from the TA-10 to the pre. There is 2.5V DC bias present at the input pins of the Tripath chip. So if you use polarized electrolytics, make sure the '+' terminals are on the Tripath chip side.

Silver S1 bookshelf rated at 90db, im going for the audiomagus TA-10 SE and im worried how well it will run my speakers, my room isnt big just your average UK sized bedroom.

I have no idea how loud they will go, can I go upto having to raise my voice to speak to other people in the room?

It will probably go loud enough.... It's just that sometimes it will sound a bit strained . Especially with female voices and Big band music 🙂

Yes. The latest 10.1 version of the TA-10 comes with some nice Bennic 2.2 uF input caps. They sound very good to me although I am sure that other opinions exist on this topic 😉

The Pre can be conected to the "upstream" side of your Obbligato input caps. That would be the end that normally is connected toward the rear of the Trends.

Mine are for sale if anyone is interested. Although I'm still in the opinion that these ar by far the most worst amps I have heard in my system for the last 20 years, many people here seem to like them a lot

I'm late into this, but I think I can be found earlier or on other threads. I am a fan of the Tripath chip. I have the Super T, Charlize, Amp 3, Amp 6, Amp 5 and TA-10. I've recently added the TweaKit 3 to my TA-10 and so far after 24 hours it is just wonderful.
I have about $50K of tube amps and trusted transistor stuff from UK suppliers to compare them against.
Thank you Pano for supporting this effort. I would be glad to provide any of my experiences with anyone who's interested.
