Transformer substitution help

I just asked Hammond for a step up transformer to run a HV ESL supply. I need 120V in and 750V out almost no current necessary. Quote was about $285.00 OUCH!!!
Can anybody suggest a transformer running backwards that would work for a lot less money? Thanks for the help/suggestions. Regards Moray James

Can you use a higher step-up voltage? I have several laser p/s transformers ; 120v in 1650v out. With a diode bridge , I get 2200vdc. Very good build quality. $20+shipping . Sorry for the AD , just looking to help out. Thanks

A few miliamps would be fine as this is for a multiplier stage to feed the diaphragm. Thanks, moray james.

Did you find that transformer after?

I got a couple of 1:50 trannies from hammond for 55$ each but i never priced one to use for a power supply which is something i was planning on doing.

Just wondering what you used and where you found. (IF you did)

There are a lot of surplus places out there that sell this sort of thing. It is not difficult or expensive to adapt any of these for use as a bias supply for ESLs.

Hi Moray,

How about a Hammond 274X. It has 120V in and 750V out. I found a place on the web www.stf-electronics.com, as an example, that sells it for $46.75US.
