The main smoothing capacitors supply the current/power to the amplifier.
The transformer just recharges the partially discharged capacitors.

It's the way the cheaper end of commercial grade amplifiers sold as Hi-Fi do it.not efficiency but duty cycle. You could, for a very short while, run a 100W amp from a 50VA transformer.

And also the PMPO power has been created to cheat vast majority of people that buy a commercial set.
I am alive (well, I was last time I checked!) but the bit that does dancing was somehow left out when I was made. My legs function perfectly well for all other purposes but dancing never seems to work.
I also suffer from the fact that the only part of me which is musical is my ears. I can't play a note, but I can spot errors made by others. It also means that some types of 'music' I find very unpleasant - basically modern stuff (classical or pop) which has no trace of a tune or where the composer wrote tunes but the performer is tone deaf.

Well, my case is worst: I never could run more than 20mts, but I walk some speedy than normal people, sometimes more than 5 or 6 Km.
I never dance, nor I know about music, but electronic music from a good DJ is my prefered when at job or in my house. When LISTEN music, I prefer autor music like Spanish singer songwriters Joaquín Sabina and Joan Manuel Serrat.

I can't assume sin waveforms, here mains is severely distorted.
You assumed sinusoidal waveforms in your first two posts (posts 3 and 6).
But if we shouldn't assume sinusoidal AC mains, then probably all we need to do is to revise the "low AC Mains" factor that should be routinely applied, when calculating the worst-case analysis for the design. I suggested that a "10% low AC Mains" condition should be accounted-for, in post 9.
Is there any statistical data for the so-called "flat-topped" mains peak voltage (that has apparently become quite common), or any other method, that we could use to revise that 10% figure?
