I am not sure this non-insulated High Power Transformer setup will work.
Have you tried it in some simulation test?

Maybe fotios can tell us.
I would guess your nice idea will not work.

the question is about the amp...as is
i dont really also understand fotios set up .....
there are two things that i like about this amp

1) that the power of the psu is not limited by the size of trafo but mostly of the power of your socket
2) i also like very much that the secondary psu is winded in the mains auto transformer and i wonder what this is effecting in the secondary psy when at full load

I agree with you, but.....

As i said, the most likely it is my circuitry will not operate. From the other hand, i think that the use of two seperators from the mains taps of Xformer it is a solution. I don't know this moment - this is a subject that needs a deeper examination - if the proper devices to do this are bridge rectifiers or some rows of TMOS or diodes etc. Maybe a different configuration of the two bridge rectifiers will be in place to operate. I placed an idea for start, but i asked the participation of all of you for a further examination to find a more secure solution in this interesting view of use of an autotransformer.

is worried why iam not next to my girlfriend on the beach having 5000 of beers insted of messing up the forum for 5000 watts ..... ha ha ha

the only thing id like to do is to make an amp like that .... probably not for 5000w may be less but see how the all thing is working in a power something like 300+300 w and how the all device will work as a ready made product for use or abuse in small pa application .....

Hi,
the dual rectifier circuit does not work, it needs dual/twin secondaries. The circuit you put up as an example has a single rectifier.

The biggest problem and it is alluded to in the "warning", is insulating the LIVE parts from the remainder of the circuitry and external controls/connections. This will require similar solutions to that adopted in double insulated amplifiers that are capable of operating safely without an Safety Earth connection.

Just bite the bullet and get the 60-0-60 trafo you need and build Fotios' amplifier (or DJK's, or mine, or whatever). If you can get 30-0-30's cheap put a couple in series - then you can play with class H 😉

As to your original question - regulation of autotransformer vs. standard - is 6 of one half dozen of the other. It all boils down to leakage reactance in the end. Autotansformer has only one winding (+), but where the tap is made it will only cover part of the core and therefore not be equally distributed (-). Can't get somethin' for nothin'. 🙁
