There was an old plastic BMW valve cover laying around the garage for years. Of course I finally threw it away. Would have been a perfect source for heat resistant plastic.

If this is no joke, take into account that is is a strip of stone. At least the specifications say that the material is marble. It will be beautiful and classy but difficult to work. You also could use a few strips of PCB board without copper. Or acrylic sheet.I'm going to make a new bracket out of nylon or some type of sturdy plastic. Something like this product would work good.

That may not be the stuff I'm thinking of though. Another name is corian and it's some type of resin. I've worked with it before and you can cut it with a miter saw.
