Transformer failure or dc offset?

yes, I have dismounted the transformer and inspected it when I first notice this issue. The transformer is epoxy enclosed, rubber mounted in it's own enclosure and securely mounted. Again, this is an intermittent problem.

It may operate for days with no hum, then one day like today a very noticeable hum. I have pushed on the steel cover which is securely fastened with the transformer on it rubber mount and the is no change?

Just a general comment to be aware of.
The insulation on transformer windings do fail with time if exposed to too much heat and vibration.
This could certainly cause intermittent problems. It may not be what you have but it's something to be aware of.
 
Today the amp has been turned on 3 different times. 1st a noticeable hum, a few hours later a very noticeable arnnn. I just turned in on and only a slight hum??? This without the cmx. I did try the cmx in the circuit each time with no noticeable change. The transformer is firmly mounted and pushing on the shield case make no change. What could fail in a transformer that encapsulated in epoxy and steel shield case. It looks like the epoxy was poured into the shield with the transformer in place. The amp plays fine and is stone quiet while playing on 91db speakers.
