TPA3116:Dual voice and PBTL

I have dvc woofer which is 4ohm x 2

Is there any difference in sound quality if I wired 1 x TPA3118 using BTL into stereo 4ohm or PBTL into 2ohm Mono?

I reckon 8ohm sound best but I need more power.

I'm currently using 2 x tpa3118 pbtl to wired 4ohm x 2

What I'm looking at is the amplifier damping factor and speaker force factor have any effect on sound quality in both configurations

Any can enlighten?

Thanks

According to the datasheet, PBTL allows for 2 Ohm loads. Datasheet TPA3116, look at page 11, 2 Ohm PBTL measurements are shown.

I would not use 2 Ohm wiring because of the transition resistances and currents being/'weighting' much higher. If you are using one 4 Ohm coil on each channel re-wiring to 2 Ohm PBTL will not result in any different or better performance or power but you'll lose reliability. On PBTL, if one channel drops, the other has to cope with the full current of 2 Ohm and will die too. With 2 ch, if one ch drops out, the other will still 'see' the same impedance and it will continue to play.
