hey everyone, im putting together 3116 HT system using these Sanwu amps.

TPA3116 50wx2

But i have a concern. I have read several times that if these chips are run without a speaker load present the output caps will blow.

What my question and concern is having 6 channels from 3 boards, im only going to need 5 channels (Im still picking out a sub/transducer amp). what about the remaining unused channel?

also ive had a couple friends ask to check out the system when its done. But not all of them have full 5/7 speaker setups. Or if a speaker gets disconnected ect.. again.. dont want to blow up the amps.

Something to worry about? A workaround?

Getting a DVC sub is one way to ensure all outputs are used. Several examples in the Dayton range as well as the usual car audio manufacturers.

Ultimately, if you can mute the amps on power up, or provide an anti-thump, or ensure the power/volume knobs are "off" before powering up, you should be OK.
