Hi guys i built an audio box with a psu, 750 watt car amplifier and car cd player. I'm trying to connect a rotary switch to enable multiple inputs.
When i connect to the rotary switch it works. However, for example if i play music from my mobile phone the music gets louder. If i touch the rca cables it gets even louder.
Any idea why?

Yikes! I don't even know that means! I'm a noob to building audio stuff.
If i do manage to identify the culprit, how do i fix it? I basically look around the internet n learn but this is really new to me.

I guess, you have not an oscillation but a grounding problem. Most devices have their small signal connections, say line and microphone but not loudspeaker, which is a large signal, in an unbalanced way, what means, that these signals must be related to a common ground. Usually cable shields are just connected, this connection being called ground, but not connected to physical ground, say planet earth, altho that may also not harm.
are you using the bluetooth module that's built in to the car cd player/radio?
if so do you have a proper antenna hooked up?
i could be wrong but it seems like your body capacitance is aiding in tuning reception; as in increasing received signal strength.
where are you adding your selector switch too?

Hi everyone, thank you for all the replies. Its wonderful to have a support when a confusion such as this strikes 🙂
I should elaborate some more.
There is a main box, with a PSU (power supply unit, 480 Watts), Car cd player (antenna unplugged) and a 750 Watt Car Amplifier. I'm aware the PSU is inadequate, however at the moment i'm just using what i have around to get everything in working order.
The input selector box i am building separately to isolate the Rotary Switch, Input jacks and output Jacks.
The main box on its own (lets call it Box 1) seems to work wonderfully when i play music via bluetooth. If however i plug in a 3.5 mm jack, the amplifier goes into protect mode for a split second. I understand (please correct me if i'm wrong) that this is because the 3.5 mm jack is not grounded. If i touch the jack repeatedly, the amplifier goes into protect mode and shuts the PSU off.
Mobile phone > 3.5 mm jack > 3.5 mm Jack to RCA > RCA to amplifier.
Yesterday as well, I connected copper wires to the inputs on Box 1 and connected the copper wires to hinges.
The problem i described initially occurs when the rotary switch is connected. However i think it might be due to the rotary switch not being boxed up and isolated yet. I'm gonna try boxing it up and isolating it, and report back.
Also, i'll take some pictures and post them so everyone gets a better idea, and i can get some much needed advise 🙂
Actually I just installed a separate bluetooth module yesterday. The antenna from the car radio is unplugged.turk 182 are you using the bluetooth module that's built in to the car cd player/radio?
