Never done anything like this before so please bear with me!!!
I'm toying with the idea of building a pair of 3 way speakers (I'm assuming this is the way to go). I'd like a nice bottom end (ha ha) because I mainly listen to very bassy reggae. As this is my first project I'd like this to be as cheap and easy as possible. Anyone got any suitable plans?
I intend to buy the drivers from my local Maplin store (UK) and I have a decent supply of MDF.
I'd prefer 8" bass drivers as this would be more suited to my budget.
Any tips or help would be fantastic!

IMO a 2 way or 2.5 way with 8"ers is a good choice for a mainly rock and pop speaker. A 3-way gets MUCH more tricky than a 2 way.

Isn't there a certain type of horn cab thats meant to work really well with reggae?

I know eminence recommend some of their drivers to work well with horn enclosures and reggae, how believeable this is Im not sure.
Maplins isn't the only place to look for drivers. Try these aswell.:

be sure to include a crossover design in your search
The crossover will be the heart of your system
You will do well to select some design that has the crossover already worked out and tweaked.

The veritas or Lyra sound like a good way to start from what I've read, just having trouble finding Dayton drivers in the UK. Anyone know of a stockist? If not are there any equivelents by other companys which are readily available in the UK?
