TORX176 optical receiver source or equivalent part?

I've been unable to find a source for the Toshiba TORX176 fiber optics receiver in the US (anyone know of one?).

I did find The Toshiba TORX179 at Digikey - looks like it is very similar (about 5V supply voltage, which is what I need).

Could I easily substitute the 179 for the 176? This is for a pair of DDDAC1543 I am building, and I think apart from a 3way switch, this is the very last part I will need to source before I can start building the thing.

The TORX176 seems very popular in Europe, but around here it's hard to find.
