Hi Jonz

I'm not familiar with the Tortech amplifier, but it appears that you are referring to a 70V Line Distribution Amplifier.

Some of these amps are conventional designs with simply a transformer bolted to the output. If this is what your amp is, then just bypass the output transformer. You can connect the speaker directly to output of the amp before the transformer or remove the transformer entirely.

It would help if you can post a schematic.

Hi mcp...

I don't have a schematic..I will try to find one..

On the back of the amp the output connection are as follows

+ - COM 4ohm COM 70 volt 100 volt

there are regular input lines and 10 k ohm Balance ones

there is also a DC power switch on/off as well as 120/220 volt slider switch..

Could it be possible the 4 ohm connection is the one I'm looking for.. thanks...

If I am not mistaken, the "+- COM" on the left is for signal input. The +- is for balanced input, whereas for unbalanced, it is + and COM.

For speaker connection, it is "4ohm COM 70 volt 100 volt". Whether you use 4 ohms, 70V or 100V, the return from the speaker goes to this "COM".

Normally, these connections are in terminal strip form, so take extra care to make sure that no loose strands of wires are touching the case.
