Toroidy shipping rates

Just wanted to report I ordered two PP output transformers from Toroidy in Poland and shipping to the states worked out to $84. Not bad when you factor in their great prices to begin with. For reference Edcor (a US company) charges $50 for shipping one small transformer.

If the Toroidy transformers you need are stocked by TME you could have them shipped to the US for $9.99 for packages under 5 kg. (The last time I ordered about 6 months ago).

TTG-KT88PP TOROIDY - Transformer: speaker | 80VA; O115x65mm; 0.012/56kHz; 300mA | TME - Electronic components

The Toroidy KT 88 PP transformer for example weighs 2.8 kg, so better purchase a single transformer twice plus shipping for each - total shipping for the two transformers for $19.98. Shipping is fast - usually reaches me in central US in 5 business days.

I complained and he cut the shipping charges in 1/2. I bought Antek instead.
This was for power transformer. The antek cost 1/2 of his asking price and I got them in 3 days.

Edcor output transformers sucks, not worth the money and 10 weeks waiting time.

why are you complaining? Obviously it's gonna cost a lot more to send stuff half the way around the world' and they are not even close to OZ rates!
It's like us in Europe, why would we bother to order stuff in the USA when we can easy get parts from Poland, Scandinavia or Italy at reasonable postage rates.

Francois is correct.

So far though, TME has not offered the cathode feedback line so those have to be purchased direct from Toroidy. However, I got a recent email stating Toroidy now has a USA presence with an office in Atlanta. I'm going to write that office and ask if they will carry the CFB transformers.

Edcor must have just started using Fedex. Before they only used USPS. Either way even after getting a shipping quote from Edcor it was still cheaper with Toroidy.

the following orders had the following shipping costs....

march 5, 2020 - one power transformer, shipping: $23.74
Feb 15, 2020 - two transformers, shipping: $23.74
Jan 14, 2014 - 3 transformers, shipping: $27.55

i don't see shipping from edcor anywhere near the $84 you claim. maybe it's just you?

They do use FedEx now and their rates seem to be pretty well inline with what FedEx and UPS actually charge.

We have gotten largely spoiled by 'free' shipping and cheap, US tax payer subsidized, small package shipping from China, to the point that it is hard to take when a company actually charges us what it costs them to ship something.

The shipping costs from USPS, UPS and FedEx have skyrocketed in the last few years, as they try to bleed the little guys to make up for the ridiculously low rates they give to the huge customers.
