Toroidal placement help/ question

Question. I was hoping to install a 200va toroidal transformer in chassis that measures 5” wide. The toroidal measures I believe 4.90 so it fits but with a millimeter or two in between the walls if that. Is this a ok or safe to have it so close to the walls of the chassis or should consider a wider chassis? Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. The picture is just for reference and have know intentions of fitting it in that. Just happens to be 5” wide. Thanks

Transformer won't care. Just be sure that if the top of the enclosure is metal that it does not touch the top of the bolt holding the toroid. You'll get a shorted turn effect with the transformer if that happens, and the toroid will not be happy about that at all. Only problem I could see with such a small enclosure is ventilation for heat removal from the transformer. If it runs cool, then no problem.

I read recently about the shorted run thing. The chassis is about 4” tall so I should be ok but still would make sure not to do anything to melt my transformer. The chassis is 10” length wise or I can get one 12” length wise and both are 5” wide. For ventilation I was going to put a sheet of perforated aluminum on top of the chassis. Thank you for the input as I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to put the transformer in such a tight space. Thank you kindly
