I'm looking at getting the Topping TP60 amp to try out for my fronts which currently just run off a Yamaha RX-V461 receiver.
I have the Seas idunn kit here: The Madisound Speaker Store
Can anyone tell me if this amp will be OK to power these or if there is something better for that price range?

It's a little illogic to keep a receiver "on" just for the low power circuits; I mean, it's ok...
I'm not found on receivers as I prefer single function for each component.
Probably the worst part is the preamplifier 🙄 and finding the division between "pre out" and "main in" could be fairly easy or not ...mostly it's a problem of accessing the part from the chassis and unscrew everything in sight to reach the point, which is amplifier's input node. Probably ( or not) it has separate boards for the amplifiers and it should be easy to track the wires from the preamplifier output.
That said, a simple stereo amplifier alone with volume control and no other "knobs" is the best...well,an input selection facility might be handy 🙄
And I mean a stereo amplifier ! Those things with power devices, that make a lot of heat 😉

If you dont like leaving a receiver "on", then where would you plug in your PS3, DVD, Bluray player etc? Do you just plug them all into the TV and have the sound go to a pre-amp / power amp setup?
I will get the TP60 i think as i've read enough reviews now saying its good. I was just wondering if it will be powerful enough to power the Seas kit as the woofer is 80W at 8 ohm and the TP60 will only send about 50W at 8 ohms?

Or (minimalistic) tablet > wire>volume pot/buffercircuit>wire>amplifier>wire>speakers. Just extract the RCA plugs from the buffer input and insert the other source.

Room is 4m x 4.5m with one side completely open (no wall).

The speakers are used for TV, movies, music, PS3. Normal listening volume levels with the occasional turned up for music.
If i need something more powerful, is there something you can recommend in the same $200-$250 price range?

Bought the TP60. Will see how it goes.
With my receiver not having pre outs, I was thinking, since i have my DVD, Media player etc plugged into the TV. Can i run a cable from the TV's headphone jack to the RCA in on the TP60? or am i better just plugging the media player straight into the TP60 for sound till i get a receiver with pre outs?
