Good idea to mount from the bottom, wish I thought of that! From the bottom I would recommend a thick glue (Goop, JB Weld) because it cannot be seen. I mounted my mesh on the top and used some clear glue that you can still see if you look closely because it was a little runny. Going strong after 20 years.
The mesh is painted "modders mesh" for PC cases but if you want to go fully DIY then using mesh from a mesh trashcan does the trick. Assuming its newish, not smelly and somewhat clean!

In the end, I bolted some fine aluminum car grille mesh onto the top cover. It makes a very good electrical connection for earth bonding. There are a few places where it seems to be too far from the panel on the rear, so I will probably try to use some double sided tape or glue in those areas only. Actually the unfinished silver area where the holes are cut out looks quite good. Adds some contrast to the black.
