billr said:hello Miles, i saw your photo of the 807 amp, what's connected to the two heatsinks?
Two Fairchild FAN1084 voltage regulators for the DC heater supply.
any reason for putting them on the surface of the amp?
they tend to bring down the overall design in their current location.

It's a developmental prototype, and I'd definitely find some other place for that in later iterations. Otherwise, the underside is pretty "buzy" and not much room there for heatsinks.

What, no glow-spot on the plate? You're not trying hard enougn....
I have had a little more practice!
This one definitely falls in the don't try this at home dept. In fact don't even think about it. Look carefully to spot the creative top caps, base pin connections and HV rated wiring. This SE amp put out over 200 watts, and handled my guitar playing for over an hour. The red spot actually fades away when doing a Hendrix style feedback.

That tube looks like a mason jar. Every time I see that tube I have a strange compulsion to eat PB&J with extra J. One day I will build one.
Well, if you had a jar like that 833, it would be full of a jelly consisting of the hottest peppers known to mankind - just the thing to spice up something as bland as peanut butter. I don't have the intestinal fortitude just yet to try something as daunting as an 833 amp. I'll be glad when I get my GM-70s lit up (probably by summer this year).
hey-Hey!!!,
With the OPT on top, I just didn't ever take the plate leads below the plate. TX is close by, so I left them flying. B+ is a relatively tame mid-500's and the power finals are 8001/4E27 or with filament adjustment, 813.
cheers,
Douglas

thanks everyone! I love picture threads! Speaking of top caps, I cannot find the proper "tapered" cap to fit on a 3D21/A/WB. Any ideas what will fit (safely)?
