In catalog "A" section
look under "Flat Flex cable assemblies"

You get get up to 8" cables (and if you need more, simple connect several cables together)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i have the 151v, is this the right cable part # at digi key- A9CAA-2008E-ND-if its not do you have a part # for that small J shaped flat cable. and how wide or pich is the cable.thanks :headbash:

I need at very minimum a 15" monitor that will do 1024x768, Have a 500:1 contrast ratio, and a maximum response time of 25ms. There are two Sony's and a Neovo that fit the bill. Has anyone had either of these brands apart? They're $350-$390 and before I get started I'd like to know what to expect disassembling either of them.
Thanks,
John

Could the discussion about suitable monitors be expanded? There are hundreds of people who have made projectors and we got only three models and a few comments... :bawling:

I am currently without a job so I want to spend my earnings on a LCD that I can actually use without lengthening or modifying the circuit boards... What about LG monitors?

which wire extension?

I have much the same question regarding a Kogi L4AX, on which the flex cable needs to be extended, its a 20 pin, so is the A9BAA-2008E the correct part number from digikey? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

a few details please.

Hi, I started building a projector after reading alot of these great posts and checking out the Tom's hardware guide article. I have a Envision EN5100e and a Elmo l355 deluxe ohp. After removing the case I see the backlight panel is connected to the edge of the lcd with a short cable. Does this get removed? I've enclosed a photo. Any help or tips you could give me would be a great help. Thanks Gary

I want to know the answer to this same quesion.

My OHP screen is only 12" diagonally, measuring 9" X 9". Does the LCD just hang off the edges?

Yes i think normally it does. If you look closely at Toms hardware, you can see the corners of the image are cut off by the projector stage.

If you're gonna watch a movie though, especially widescreen, you're olny going to miss a very small portion on each side, but navigating through your desktop is a little tricky if you don't have another monitor hooked up.

I have an Nvidia graphics card and using their NvKeystone program I shrink the image to fit the size of the projector. The downside is that this end up losing you some resolution and you get artifacts due to interpolation, but the plus side is if you're watching a movie, you can't tell anyway and the total resolution is still much higher than dvd.

Also, I used a Samsung 152n. Pretty easy to disassemble but it will need an FFC extension. BUT using NvKeystone I have adjusted the image to fill the portion of the screen that's not covered by the boards, so I don't have to wait for the cable to watch movies!

Samsung 152n
Pros and cons: same as all the other samsungs posted thus far!

NEC monitors

Alright guys, I have loads of experience with a few NEC monitors as I fix them.

The NEC 1510V and NEC 1510V+ are basically the same except the + version has 2 extra CCFL backlights and a bigger inverter.

These are both 1024*768 Resolution 15"
They won't need any extensions of the interface cables if you mount the screen at 90 degrees to the controller boards.
These are very robust monitors, i regularly swap panels, controllers, inverters with no ESD protection (other than being careful) and have had zero problems.

The NEC1525S is a great panel: 1280*1024 resolution. A 10 pin FFC cable will need to be extended to get the controller out of the way. The spacing of the pins would be possible to solder to, they are not that small. It measures 12" by 9.5", 15.4" diamater.

Hope this is ok.
