I have a Sony linear tracking direct drive turntable model PS-LX500 that worked perfectly before I stored it in an attic several years ago. I got the tracking mechanism unstuck and everything else seems to be working. Problem is that the tonearm will not drop to the record surface either automatically or when the down button is pressed. I have no idea of what mechanical mechanism is behind the tonearm elevation function. Please help.😱
I do now that you supplied a link to one. Now trying to figure out how the mechanics of the tonearm work. Took the top cover off of the arm, still can't make sense out of the component therein as to how they actually move the arm.
Thank you for helping.
Best Regards,
Jerry

The majority of problems with linear tracking mechanisms are down to broken/stretched drive belts and gummed up lubricants.
