Tonarm lift

I have been searching hi and lo for a tonearm lift on the Net for some time now. (Of course here as well.) I have also tried to find a cheaper arm on eBay with a removable lift. But to no avail. And I'm not to keen about the idea of having one custom made. Quite expensive.

So my question is, does anyone here have any idea? I don't think I have to mention that making one isn’t an option.

Thanks.

😉 Back in the good ol 70's there was a simple counterbalance tone arm lift marketed by monitor audio, actually l had one but as l had no use for it not knowing what to do with it l chucked it, all it was a simple counterweight arrangement on a pedestal so that when the arm nudged it it would tip over and raise the arm, were people to look at it lying in the bottom of a drawer l'm sure they wouldnt know what it was, think about it l'm sure you could knock one up fairly easily if you think of the principle involved, hope this helps cheers TC😉 OTOH if you check ebay uk one might come up as it was a uk sourced and marketed, product l got mine in '76 when l was in london along with a zerosatat pistol which l still have:bigeyes:

😉 glad you solved the problem werner, 😎 l was just trying to suggest something simple cheap and workable without major surgery to your player if l still had it l would have been happy to send it to you cheers TC:wave2:

It seems I spoke too soon. I had really given up on it, and only asked to be over with it.

Too bad no image though. The price won't kill me if I can't use it. But I do like to see what I buy. Anyway, the important part is that I now know there's hope for me. And in case somebody wonders what I was looking for when looking for an arm with removable lift, try Haddock. Not that I was actually looking for a Haddock arm.

Thanks, guys.

:xeye: sorry 'bout that, if you persevere l'm sure you will get it sorted in due time, BTW, the arm lift l was talking about was if l am right, in answer to the same problem as at the time there were quite a few arms in use about ie; the decca, and the simple connosiour ones and the simple arms on the old lenco tt's just to mention 3 and the ones on the old AR tt's in principle l think it was like one of those bobbing birds you see occasionally mounted on the side of a glass that bobs up and down till its beak touches the water and then it goes upright again it was such a simple concept l am surprised it is no longer generally available:wiz: cheers TC:smash:

My fault.

I should have understood when the first hits I got at google when searching for "tonearm lift" was the Expressimo lift. Not to mention that I'm a long time owner of Thorens turntables. I guess I just forgot about the Thorens "end lift."

It's so silly. I was originally looking for a tonearm rest. The one I have is in plastic and really ugly. I don't want that one. So I got this bright idea. Instead of looking for a tonearm rest, why not also get a lift? Perhaps one of those lift and rest in one, like on most modern arms.

I know there where lifts made for the Ortofon arms and figured there has to be others. But even if there are, they are probably not that easy to come by these days. So I will get back to just scouting for a rest. I don't need the lift. Should I ever run into one, fine. But I won't hold my breath.

Again, thanks. And sorry for the confusion I caused.

I can take a photo if you like. But the lift looks somewhat like those you find on modern tonearms. Sort of. It's really cheap-looking. Black plastic lever and black aluminum rest. I won't use it. I have found a cheap incomplete arm. I will strip that one instead.
