To Papa, thanks and a question

Papa,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You made me a happy man.
Sunday evening I purchased the XA30.5. Since then I enjoy listening to music as never before (at home). At times there are tears in my eyes, tears of joy out of the beauty of the music reproduced.
I'm retired and listening to music is the major joy in my life, for as long as I'd be able to enjoy music.
Your part in my joy is significant.

Also thanks to your local distributor, Igal Lasry. He came to my home twice, to demonstrate the amp on my system. Prior to the actual purchase, he sad he'd come as many times as I'd wish. He also made the purchase easier for me by allowing generous installments.

A question.
For how long should the amp be broke in?
For the breaking in period, should I play music continuously, or is it better to turn the amp off for about an hour once a day?

Joshua,

I can relate very well with you and the joys music.....music how it should be heard and how it makes you feel......what it does for the soul. I have many brain tumors (most in or on my acoustical nerves) Every time I turn on my gear (and believe me, my gear doesn't compare to "a Pass design"), there is a point where it hits me and I tear. One because I still have my hearing and two.....at that moment I am at the pinnacle of music bliss. In all honesty it could sound like gravel through a trash compactor but it is my gear and my bliss. So "bliss on" fellow audio lover

Thank you, and I have an answer:

I have no idea. Hi Fi equipment seems to settle into a good state over time,
but there is no decisive evidence as to whether it is the equipment or the
listener.

😎

Joshua, I knew you were agonizing over your amp decision and am glad you are happy with your choice. I also own an XA30.5, but I haven't heard any of the First Watt designs so I didn't really feel qualified to respond.

Above all, you seem to have hit on a nice system synergy that plays to your expectations of how the music should sound. And that's the most important part.

FWIW, if the music is bringing you to tears, I'd say don't sweat the break in much more. I think it takes about as long to get used to a new component as it'd take it to break it in, so just enjoy.

I would propose you the following. Use FM radio, set its selector somethere in between stations, so that white noise will be heared.
Connect a dummy load to the amp instead of speakers (4 Ohms 50W wire resistors). Connect the radio output to amp's input. Adjust the noise signal level, that near 8...10V RMS AC voltage will be measured at the resistor load.
Wait for 24 hours. Then connect source, speakers and try to listen.

Many persons said me a lot of thanks for this proposal.
An effect is comparable to replacement of a crap interconnect cables by top-quality high-end ones.
