I was just wondering what people's opinions are of say ordering the isolated LM3886TF or the non isolated LM3886T. I expect the non isolated package allows for better heat transfer, but with the isolated one you don't need mica I suppose. What are your thoughts?

Pete I would study the data sheet on the difference ...one will probably have a higher dissapation spec and decide from there. I personally like the isolated chips with a little thermal compound.

Thanks for the info. Looks like national has ended their freebie samples anyways, so I'll have to make due with what I got, which are isolated anyways.
I think people keep saying that their gainclones don't heat up much anyways so I'm sure the isolated package with some heatsink compound is just fine. Now to just get that S.M.P.S. built.
