I'm building a sub using a Dayton reference series HF 12" driver in a 2.6 - 2.8 ft3 sealed box and I'm undecided about whether to use the Dayton SA240 plate amp or the SA240B plate amp which adds 6db of boost at 30 hz. The choice would be easier if the boost feature was defeatable but it isn't. Please all share you thoughts on which amp would be best for my application.

I think you better not use boost, except if you play music only quietly.
The rolloff is fine in that box size and reaches maximum excursion at around 25 Hz with full power.
If you put the boost, you will run in overexcursion between 20 Hz to 40 Hz. You also lose all output under 30 Hz, it fall sharply after that. On the other hand, the frequency response is flatter.
I think it's not needed because in your home you might have some low end boost that will help the frequency response.
Good luck ! 🙂
