to all who hooked up a Laptop LCDS and Controller Cards

Hi Guys, im just new here.

My plan is to set up a modified OHP with a 400 MH lamp to use with a laptop lcd ( 14,1 " , 1024x768, DELL).

Now my question: I know i have to buy a Controller Card.

Who buyed a card at www.evdisplays.com . Does it really work ?.

does it work with all sort of Laptop displays ?


Who hooked them up and got a good result?.


Do i have to buy a specific LCD to match the controller card?.

I have'nt as yet seen a compatabillity list from these people, it does look like a good controller as it seems to have a lot of options available. Do you have the model number off of the panel you intend to use?

I have a Sharp 12 inch screen running on a Spectrah controller card it does DVD nicely but gaming is rather limited, allthough Age of Empires is cool on a big screen 😉

mhm, why is it limited ? Is it because of the Reaction time ?


where did you get the spectrah controller ?

P.S. Are you the only guy , who took the "not OHP-Panel" way 😉

The limitation is in the LCD controller/video card. It only has 8 megs of memory on board. So it works fine for DVD and for surfing but games like Unreal Tournament are painfully slow. I got this card as an engineering sample dirrectly from Taiwan, I have another project in mind for this card, ultimately it will be replaced in my PJ with one of the Condor cards or something similar.

mhm,, i dont understand: the controller isnt a graphics card.


unreal turnament e.g. uses the RAM of the graphics card, and sends the rendered information to the LCD.

The Spectrah is a graphics card, the condor is a controller card. So with the condor I could supply it from my radeon 8500 and play any game I want on big screen.
