I would like to know opinnions about.
I think it is too much complex....i have suspections that may not sound fine because of double simetrical into the input.... the ones i have tried into my house, made this way, have not sounded fine to my ears.
What do you think.
Files are big.....but high resolution.

Hi!
Yes, to complic.but nice.

Btw. do you have schematic or SM. for Peavey PV-1.3K

A bit like current feedback NAD 372, nice one.
I bet that if stable it will sound more than nice.

I'm no engineer, but isn't this basically a Le Classe A with extras? Some cascodes, buffering, regulated supply and CCS.
Yep.... i have found it too much dense... do not know if this will help sound quality
or not.... i have some suspections that will not help sonics... but as i have not listened ... so....i cannot know the way it will sound.
I can imagine... because of the input style (alike Leach).... the double simetrical design..... i dislike that sound.... i could listen in many amplifiers using the idea.... not good to my ears....BUT.... in my country almost all amplifiers are copies of Leach Amplifier, using the input differential topologie...double simetrical input... double complementary differential amplifiers...here they use zeners (27V) to control the voltage to them.
I was curious.... will not assemble to listen.... too much dense...too much complicated... a very hard work only to kill my curiosity about... reason why i have posted...maybe someone could have listened or assembled.
My schematics are the same you can find into Jan Dupont site...i use to download my schematics there.... and the ones he had not i have already sent to him.

Carlos

I've built it long ago and it's collecting dust right now.
Which doesn't mean it's not a fine amp.
There's a thread somewhere with a few pictures of the naked amp.
Very powerfull and pretty good sounding but a bit outdated compared to a classD amp.

Re: Yes.... files are big...but image is very good.
That is big!
Too big for me.
I mean, 7.65 MByte of file download.
That is juust too much for me, Lineup
regars

I've fiddled with a more basic current feedback, le Classe A alike headphone amp. I recently changed the input bipolars (BC550/560) to JFETs (2SJ74/SK170). I've also tried 2SA970/SC2240. Changing the input transistors, together with emitter resistors and some other resistor values to get proper operation, changes the sound a lot. Where the bibolars are clear and analytical (especially the Toshiba's), the JFETs are warmer, more "musical" and a bit grainy.
Carlos, did you ever try JFET input in a symmetrical amp?
Netlist, when you call it outdated, what do you mean? How would you describe it's sound, what sonical flaws did you find?

You can build more efficient amps today with classD.
I wouldn't call it flaws, just different. After, I build the AlephX and it's more pleasing to my ears than the Titan.
What about 'The Titan produces sound, the AlephX music.'

Thank you Netlist.... good informations about
I Have a class D and i know what you are talking about.

I have tried Fets..... but i prefer not to comment.... I do not want to start any figth with Fet lovers.
They are excelent for switching applications.

Hi folks, stumbled over this one, yep I built the 2x50W IGBT one many year ago, still being my daily and I can tell - don't find better.
Have some really serious stuff aside here but that one breaks it all. Ok, I seriously built the around stuff, dual mono, high perf (still linear) PSP, digital front-end. Drives my BW 604S3 plus a Jamo 360 sub - folks, that is hard to beat.
Now after all these years I dream about same IGBT amp but with much more oompfh. Well, Titan 2000 takes over from my little one and reloads it, still CFB.
Really, CFB design rocks, not easy but when working you can forget about all the rest out there, it simply is brilliant.
Personally I target Titan 2000 as a rebuild but with some serious soft switched SMPS à la SMPS500R or similar, still dual-mono and a redesigned programmable pre-amp digital pre-amp as I already did.
NB: also run here NAD 350C tuned and pimped, JVC A-X9, Sony TA-N55ES, Sony TA-F55, Sony EP90ES/9ES - all repaired, dismantled and improve, so I rather know well about reference stuff and what the little IGTB from Elektor is capable about - no way.
Happy to get some feedback here from some crazy folks - only crazy let's you touch the sky, rest is standard stuff 😉

could you post some pics of your amplifier? i'm interested in build itI've built it long ago and it's collecting dust right now.

Here a few pics of my amp, those one get back to 2019 when I finally fixed some drawbacks this design had.
If you want I can post you some vids with sound, you will see, CFB is more than worth it.
Except the output protection circuit and start-up module (NTC) I did all myself, cabling, programming.
Schema is the Elektor amp 50W IGBT design - it had some flaws I improved however - can explain.
Think with Titan 2000 you'll exactly same issues and precautions to take, even more seeing its sheer power ... really scary.
Already mine here is a fully fledged dual mono with 700 VA total transformer power ....
