Thurston 3-ways Build Thread XT25 Peerless 5.25" TangBand W6-1139SIF
Thanks! Well as I stated in the intro these were commissioned for a friend, but they’ve turned out so good I do want to keep them for a while =)
For me it’s more about the journey of exploring and learning, I’ve been selling off speakers once I feel like I’ve spent enough time with them. When I finish one project there is always the next horizon to explore =)

Another good looking build, and it also showcases your considerable woodworking skills - congrats!
p.s. Don't you already have enough speakers? [emoji3]

Nice thread, I'm a big fan of the tweeter and the mid-range motor's qualities as well though I have never heard the Al version.
I have a question though. Is a ring-radiator ALSO a dome? I thought they were considered different types of tweeters.
Best,
E

Thanks Eric! Hah I figured someone may comment on that, I’m not sure if they classify it exactly as Dome, my context was when compared to a horn loaded compression driver.
Apologies for not posting in this thread for 2 months! Life seriously got in the way and it was all I could do to finish these and get them delivered. Aside from moving I spent as much time as I could with a friend/employee who was dying of cancer, he passed away 11/29 and life is moving =(
So here they are
Really happy with the way these turned out visually, I love the adjustable feet and I think the poplar baffles really pop, hope you like them
I’ll say I think these sounded very good, definitely a classic DIY audiophile sound, like they’d do really well at MWAF, very clear and balanced sound, they’re a speaker that anything sounds good on (w/in reason assuming the recording isn’t terrible), and though they won’t knock paintings off the wall the bass is very controlled with great extension to below 30hz, I’m really happy with the low port tuning frequency which gives non boosted and controlled in room response with the ability to hit any note. The massive excursion capabilities of the W6_1139SIF means the small woofers can keep up to very high volume levels.
I’m thrilled with the off axis performance of this these drivers and this tune as well.
And the crossover schematic
And them cranking some dire straights

Thanks everyone!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
