I have read about MPro's succesfull attempt to use RGB signal (http://lagnarok.no-ip.com/index.html look under "LCD mod") With a Thrustmaster PSOne LCD and I was thinking if anybody in here have tried to open it up to see how easy it is to remove the backlight. The reason why I'm asking is that this is the cheapest LCD Screen I can get hold of. I live in Denmark and the cheapset monitor with TV-in I can get is 135$ + shipping that is about 60$ and that is for a 320x240 🙁. The Thrustmaster I can get for about 104$ including shipping. But that doesn't help if I can't remove the backlight.
🙂

Using the method he used is only possible with a Playstation connector, wich is why he used a PSone screen. You need a PSone monitor to feed a VGA signal to it like he did.
Ehuwiko >> Yeah I know I need a PSOne Monitor I'm asking if it is possible to remove the backligt from a Thrustmaster screen like he is using.
Moi>> Do you know which resolution it's using??? I know I won't be able to project a giant screen, but I am only looking at making something like 40-50 inches so it might be good enough. And since I have to pay like: 438$ excluding shipping for the NEC screen everybody is using I thought this was a good idea to get startet

Hmmm I don't know about the Thrustmaster one specifically. I know other people have had success removing the backlights from different brands of PSone LCDs. It doesn't to be a Thrustmaster. Go to www.mp3car.com. In the Forums there's a whole thread about the VGA hack(Go to the LCD forum and search for "vga hack" or something similar) and people have had success with many models. It also depends on your video card features I'm pretty sure.
hi
there a thread on this forum about psone screen but it's with a WORLDVIEW monitor
it works but pixels are big
i don't know about the thrusmaster

Yeah I saw that about the gamevue but the only one I can get hold of is the Thrustmaster, I havn't found anywhere to buy the Gamevue or any other PSOne screen for that matter. If I have to order in from the US I could might as well buy the NEC screen since it probably will cost the same in the end.
moi>> Can you post the URL again something messed up
Think I'll post a thread in mp3car to see if anyone there have seen how it is put together.

i'm using a Pelican PSOne 4" LCD
the res is crap, and the colours are a little wacky, but the backlight all but fell off.. excellent for a beginner
my next revision will likely involve a quality PSOne LCD, provided the backlight is removable.
i tryed the VGA hack, and i got an image, but not a stable not.. the two video cards i tryed weren't able to output a refresh low enough.

machs_fuel >> how did you get it to show the images then if you couldn't get the VGA hack to work???

the pelican has composite input.
the comp-out on my GF4 is pretty good, so its alright.
my LCD was easier to de-backlight, judging from the pics.
