Throw distances for X1, Sony VPL's etc..

I’ve been reading people recently talking about making the switch to commercial pj’s which I too would like to do sometime towards the end of this year – however, I can remember borrowing a Sony VPL CS2 many moons ago, and having difficulty with throw distances / image sizes that would apply to mist people living in smaller houses / apartments.
Let me explain:
I’m now finally set up in a small room downstairs in my house, the room is only 12ft x 10ft. I have my couch pushed back against one wall, and when I’m sat on the couch, the OHP is mounted on the wall immediately above my head. It throws the image onto a 6ft wide screen on the opposite wall (7’6” diagonal image size).
It is ideal, as the image fills the screen precisely, and the pj is effectively behind my seating position.

However, if I used an X1 or similar machine, would I get a large enough image with only a 9 or 10 ft throw distance? I don’t fancy having to buy a special short throw lens or, uprooting my HTPC, hifi separates , speaker system, screen, etc. to a different room. Do you think I would get a large enough image at that sort of throw distance?
