Hi All,
For a friend I am trying to repair a Threshold S/5000e but I wasn't able to find any schematics or adjustment data.
The problems are: It runs insanely hot (already after a few minutes of operation it becomes impossible to touch the heat sinks), sounds very thin and it has a 50Hz buzz on the outputs. (Which is more noticeable on the RCA inputs than on the balanced lines.)
I am aware that this amp is biased quite a bit into class-A, but still feel that the idle current setting might be utterly wrong on this one.
Does anyone have a diagram or a idle current setting?
Cheers,
jacques

Maybe a mod can move this to PASSDIY and he can get an answer from the man himself.
Alas, I am not aware of such a model #, so I assume it was well after my
time.
That said, you would want to keep the temperatures of the sinks below
50 deg C, and that figure is a probably good indicator of proper bias.
