Yes but it was basically a FET 10e for the international market, FET 11g

Have some other to the S/1000 Series II related information for you.
Of course the source for this information has been Nelson Pass who was so kind to share these goodies on his website ten years ago or so.

Yes I know I have them too but how about a Threshold S/1000 optical bias as depicted in my first post?
I'm almost sure that there wasn't a optical bias version of the Threshold S/1000 only of the SA/1, that is to say with the Thresholds that had VU meters.
Do you concur with that or did Threshold make S/1000 optical bias upgrades with a complete new frontplate (probably as expensive as the 1000VA Fischer & Holden toroid it had) as well?

You are assuming that my memory of 40 year old variations/upgrades is readily accessible.

It is not.

:geezer:

Thanks, it's a mystery, like the 400a with the 4000 faceplate (which I picked up with this pre). All came from an original investor in Threshold but the history of both seems to be long forgotten. I have a little work to get the preamp working, but am excited to have a listen. This will be my first Threshold preamp.

I don't know what it is. Looks like genuine boards, but not original.

Got a question for you about my NS-10 with the odd upgrade that looks like a FET 10e. It has a remote power supply. When I turn the power switch of the NS-10 to off, the music stops but the LED on the NS-10 stays on. I noticed the transistors inside are hot to touch even after the unit has been off for a day. There is a relay which the power switch is connected to and I can hear it operated when the switch is changed. Is it possible the power switch and relay only act as a mute and the idea is to keep the unit always "warmed up" and ready for use when turned on, or should I be taking a closer look at that relay to make sure it's working properly? It's a little difficult without a schimatic, but, if the FET 10 or 9 operates like this, I think I'm good.

Thanks,
Eric
