Thanks for the info.
The problem is that it has failed twice, and I don't know if I can find another compatible pump.
When we had six in the house we regularly destroyed dishwashers usually the pumps. Tried a lot Vulcan, Miele, Bosch, Fisher-Paykel. The current Miele is very quiet.
It's a cheap countertop dishwasher, so of course... The shiner dispenser died and made an loud buzzing noise, and there was no replacement so I just took it out.
Since it's a countertop model, maybe I could get it to siphon into the sink like a toilet?

Options :
A - revive the old sucker
B - convert a new sinner
Complete units may no longer be available, but individual parts usually are
My dying question would be : what popped the pump ?
- Carbon brushes look OK ?
- Windings shorted ?
- Signs of water ?
(burnt windings as a result of a shot seal inbetween impeller housing and motor is very unlikely. not even for a vertically mounted motor-pump assembly)

This is the basic design for most of them:
GENUINE MIELE DISHWASHER DRAIN PUMP G300/600/700/800/1000/2000 SERIES 4299110 UK
There are no brushes, and the impeller shaft and ferrite are sealed inside the pump, with the ferrite portion sealed from the impeller by a rubber ring. The one I took apart was hard to turn and liquid had gotten past the inner seal.

Would imply that your pump is an innocent victim, as was the previous.
The fault likely lies elsewhere, causing the pump to run dry for overextended periods.
You posted it's a basic model, means the controller eprom will run it's course, regardless of the horse.
Dirtbag !
I'd check for death by hanging float valve, stuck solenoid.

His unit or countertop units? They are widely available here. Becoming more popular as people are warming to 'micro living'Complete units may no longer be available, but individual parts usually are
well yes Cal, that frigid winter will soon be upon us here in igloo-land, so time to stock up and go into your annual hibernation 😉
Yes tell that to a restaurant operator who not only has a high volume of cooking, serving ware and utensils to contend with, but also the need for speed and sterilization for food safety
Cal- how exactly do you cook in an igloo?

Afaih, one starts by taking a piece of dry wood, and rubbing something rigid between your hands.

That is a completely different set of requirements than a small home kitchen.
Brian,
what on earth do you mean, clean his stone ?
(the island ChinCompoops in my famiglia never wash their mortars, dry-brush only, it's an accumulated theory thang)

I believe both are of the wipe variety. (the reason ZM often mentions he'd been stoned again)

Dishwashers are for the weak
i mentioned to dear old dad, about 40 years ago,
that we should get a dishwasher.
he seemed mildly amused,
then said,
'we already have two of them'.
which meant,
my 'lil sis and i ...
