.......The one who died last taught me how to die........

Bud

That sounds interesting. Can you elaborate. If not here at least as a PM.
Thanks.

I used to dislike cats when we had a dog. Then after the dog died cats slowly drifted into our house from the neighbours house. At some point after that I started 'noticing' them and one male cat adopted our house on his own terms.
It wasn't like we invited him over. He just started behaving like it was his place ! He was amazing as he reacted to everything we said to him. Well that was the beginning of a string of cats who came trooping in.
I also used to be wary of 'black cats' as everyone said things like they are spooky , bring bad luck etc. Well most of the cats who took over our house were black cats. I found them to be more affectionate than their differently coloured siblings. Our black cats thought they were superior to us !
They brought us happiness and luck ! Just the opposite of what I used to hear about black cats.

Perhaps black cats bring bad luck only to witches?

We have a black cat. He's sort of bear-like and heavy, but it's all muscle. He's not very good with his paws and not very fast either, but when he snags something it's hard to get it away from him, and his favorite fighting strategy is to sit on his enemies (siblings).

My grandma has a yellow cat (more white now as it's getting older and more deathly-looking) who lies down in the middle of busy hallways and tries to get stepped on, so he can play the victim and get all the attention. Nowadays he's dealing with illness as he is old, and his fur has lost most of it's color. She also has a siamese who once in a while finds on old furry toy, brings it to grandma and cries about it constantly. We hypothesize she thinks it's dead and wants grandma to revive it. Then there is a gray striped one, which seems very cynical, avoids humans and stares into space for long periods of time (PTSD???). There is a young calico which always likes to play in water, and would splash water while the other cats were trying to drink.

We have had the luck to study our neighbours cats for several years. It's amazing how different they can be between each other even from the same litter.
I also used to hear that cats are not affectionate. After our association with cats I can say this isn't true. However they do not show it the way dogs do ! More master ( cat ) servant ( me ) style !

Early on in life I learned that cats are royalty. The ancient Egyptians allways knew that.
Therefor, all our cats have royal names. We had a Maximillian, Victoria, Elizabeth, Nickolaus, Wilhelm, Alexandra and Mirza. Right now we have an Isabella, queen of Spain and her daughter Catherine of Aragon. Obtained used, from a shelter, after their rescue from a hearder (67 cats). What a delight these 2 are!
Cat people (OK, also dog and gerbil people) are good people! E

Our black cats thought they were superior to us !

They are. It's been three years since I first started knowing them. I don't live with cats but I watch their behaviour looking through the window and now I can positively say that they're better than humans in almost any aspect. They are much more pretty, civilized, mysterious, smart and kind than us. I feed them regularly and am kind with them, still, they keep looking at me with an air of superiority even though I've tried to explain them (LOL) that I'm no scumbag (LOL again). I think they have a pretty low opinion of men and I understand and respect their reasons.

Anyone recognize what amplifier this schematic goes to?

my guess

Interesting! I've just been researching "skin effect" and its associated "sound coloration".

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I scored at a flea market yesterday. I got this old Philco AM radio, which has "Civil Defense" markers on the scale. It runs off of 4 D batteries and is portable. It's old but it makes sound, and I'll bet I can revive it if I replace the electrolytics.

However it also has a nice air varicap, RF inductors and chokes, and that antenna coil which I could use to make my own radio.

It's in reasonable condition, but with a torn battery flap and assorted broken plastic parts. Do you guys think I could sell it for more than it's worth in parts if I fixed it?

See what similar models are going for on eBaps.

If you can, than off you shall rip!
Make sure to use inferior quality electrolytics and 1/10th watt resistors in all places.

speaking of cats, My puffer fish thinks it's funny to scare the heck out of mine. you can actually tell he's happy when he lures the cat over to the tank then POOF he inflates. The cat freaks and runs away, then puffer swims in little happy circles like he does when food is put in his tank.
