Hi all,
I have not been here since I first bumped into this thread and discovered what a waste of my time and my bandwidth it was.
Today I accidentally clicked on a link to a thread I had previously posted on, to find my Name quoted.
Talk about coincidence.

Andrew is still our anchor to reality.

I have been accused of exactly the opposite:
"Andrew T. is not in touch with reality!"

How is it possible for both of these apposite views to be held?

I shall not take part in the discussion.
BTW,
I did check the spelling of apposite.

Jimmy Carter used to always say that. Drove me crazy because he had a degree in nuclear engineering and should have known better. Must be a Southern thang.

So did Lyndon Johnson and Bill Clinton. Johnson said a lot of other words messed up too. So did Clinton. I guess we have had a disproportionate number of good-ole-boys run this country. And don't forget there are two George W Bush ex presidents. The other one is George H W Bush aka Bush 41. George W Bush is Bush 43.

I've habitually avoided the word "necessary" just because I can't spell it.

My spelling is horrible. I think I finally have that one down though but it took forever. I spelled that word wrong for years and years before I even knew I was spelling it wrong then for more years before I finally nailed it.

How come the third hand on my watch is called the second hand?

That reminds me of a professor I had in school who was very smart and also very funny. I remember him walking around in the Lab while people begged him to help them but only singing the theme from the Jolly Green Giant ..."Up in the Valley of the Jolly Green Giant". That was only when he had already told us he wouldn't be helping anybody in the next lab. At our school every clock showed a different time. Supposed to be a technical school but we couldn't seem to get the clocks in sync. So he put a suggestion in the box that said "I wish to recommend removing the minute hands from the clocks in order to improve their apparent accuracy."

It is hard to visualise the huge distances involved in UK travel unless you have experienced it! It can take 3 hours to drive 5 miles here.

Somebodies nose is growing. I remember a certain somebody saying "There will not be one federal dollar spent busting medical marijuana when I am president."

I thought that meant not one as in less than one. Not one as in more than one every day. In Michigan everybody is growing weed and the feds are not busting anybody. Apparently California has put a weed up the DEA's butt somehow.

I think most Americans are at least vaguely familiar with what Thanksgiving is actually celebrating and while we probably would not do the same thing today, because genocide is a violation of international law now, we are thankful that it was done back then. And again it was perfectly legal at the time as well as acceptable to us anyway.
