john curl said:Open minded is NOT foolish, SY. I feel sorry for you.![]()
Indeed it isn't. But falling for old, tired scams (and these all are) is quite foolish.
SY, not everyone who shows something that you don't have an easy answer for from your strong physics background, is a crook. Honest! You have this absolute opinion on everyone, who departs from your initial opinion. Just keep an open mind about what you have not tried yourself. That is what I was told that Richard Feynman would do. :geezer
I've found that a good way to keep an open mind is to not expect, just observe.
Some people will say that in order to get results out of things such as Qigong, you have to believe in what you're doing. On the contrary, I've found that I don't have to actually believe a bit of what I'm doing. I've found that the belief concept is useless in this kind of work, and that believing vs. not believing is a useless contrast to make. I only need to know what I'm doing, and why, and to push any differently-directed thoughts out of my mind. This is how I get the best results.
Some people also say that your thoughts at the time of creating something will determine its performance. For example, I remember building certain things for the first time and they worked quite well, but all other constructs made in the same way just didn't match the performance of the original. I believe there is some room for thought here. Certain theories say that when you direct your thought towards something, that something receives your thought pattern on some level. It makes perfect sense to me, that directed thinking towards a certain object will create a 'thought field' surrounding the object that will affect how it interacts and how it serves different purposes.
So I guess there's some metaphysics for you. This can explain why people who are often pessimistic about certain things will often find themselves not in the greatest of circumstances concerning those things. I would love to conjure some kind of example, but I would rather that readers ask themselves, instead of asking me for the resources necessary to prove or disprove these theories. I'm not interested in discussion regarding them here, as I prefer to think quietly by myself and only ask when I've exhausted my own mental resources.
As for having an open mind, I won't say where I think I'm at in that category but I will say that I prefer to remain independent in my own personal endeavors, and this lends itself to me being able to take information as I am ready for it and not have it all come at me at once. Patience is key.
As for those who are not ready to receive the new information, I believe that the information should at least be accessible when they do become curious. I find that the only progress on my part was made at my own pace when I was ready to move on. Making the information accessible should make it comfortable for those moving at their own pace to explore on their own terms. As has been said many times, human progress is only determined by the individual's willingness to move forward. This is encompassed by many things, and I do have sympathy because there are many powerful reasons to hold back. People must realize the importance of keeping their one foot on the ground so that when they finally do get into outer space and beyond, they still have good footing on their chosen foundation.
One thing for sure is that you can be the shepherd or the sheep for any chosen endeavor, be it scientific, mystical, or otherwise. If you choose to be the sheep, make sure you know who your shepherd is.

'The Field', by Lynne McTaggart...pg 166,second last paragraph:
"...Other scientific evidence supported the idea that human beings have the ability to 'see' the future. The Maimonides Center's Charles Honorton put together a review of all the well conducted scientific experiments of most varieties. Usually they entailed having participants guess which lamps would light, which cards would be turned up, what number on a set of dice would be thrown or even what the weather might be.
Combining a total of 2 million trials comprising 309 studies and 50,000 participants, where the time between guessing and the even ranged from a few milliseconds to an entire year, Honorton found positive results with odds against them happening by chance of...10 million billion billion to one."
ISBN:978-0-06-143518-8
Which as stated, shows that The total doorknob known as "The Amazing James Randi' was brought forth as a corporate and government shill to 'knock out' the 35 year plus government employee Hal Puthoff who is the pentagon and US governments ongoing Psychic researcher.. to knock him down with regards to the 'public eye' in general. In this way Hal could go back to doing what he was doing for the government with no public interference.
The most important thing of all, was to keep the general public unaware that time is not linear and energy is everywhere. after all, most of us are still talking monkeys and we don't need the power of atomic weapons and beyond in the hands of every 15 year old idiot with tons of teenage angst, Do we? Is that a sight you want to see?
Well ....we're staring straight down the barrel of that reality. Thus the current push for things as they seem to be shaping up. It's a hell of a fight.
Deal youserlf a card. Wake up. Sit at the table and deal yourself a card. It's coming anyway, no matter how you slice it or deny it.
The human race has a psychosis issue that it is going to have to get by, to fix..in a short period that is going to be about 5- 7 years, approximately, at the longest. Everything you think you know about reality is going to be skewed. And there is no way around this issue. No going back. The entire human race is going to be tackling this. All our individual personal demons are going to be loosed at once, in each of us, as we individually come to terms with this.

I guess we're doomed to go the way of the Krell.
KBK, I have come to your defense in the past, but if you keep pushing these 'non-believer's' buttons to this extent, then even I must default. It is not that I don't believe you about coming events, but as I have no proof, or reason for the cause, I have to just shrug it off.
They will just laugh at you, not learn from your input, and even show it as 'proof' of your unreliability.
I think that both you and I know that many new ideas are being expoited, and breakthroughs have already come (secretly) or will come out in future. Unfortunately, it makes many people uncomfortable and they have to attack and berate you, just like they have done to me, when I have attempted to introduce some new audio improvement that is difficult to understand initially. Is it worth it? Personally, I tend to keep my more difficult to understand ideas to the debate between friends, rather than the general public. I know this is like 'the pot calling the kettle, black' to many people who think I am pretty far out there, but please keep in mind that these people do not have your best interests considered when they respond to you.

John, there's a difference. You aren't someone with a history of ripping people off. I might think you're wrong about some things, but you're absolutely totally honest and sincere. And you could be right, as you have been so often in the past, so I keep my mind open (if not wide open).
Ken's stuff is old scams, exposed over and over as scams. These guys have bilked investors/suckers out of millions of dollars. These things are older and hoarier than the Nigerian Oil Minister scams.
That's the difference. Honest versus crooked.
(NB: I do not for a minute believe that KBK is crooked, either, but the guys whose stuff he touts absolutely are. He just drank their Kool Aid)

I doubt if our responses make any difference one way or the other. In 5-7 years any angry teen can tap into the zero point energy and vaporize mommy and daddy, sounds OK to me my kids are grown up (better watch it SY).
Burning Amp is a good opportunity for my demo.

But, what about you?

I doubt any of us are safe as we are. We'll all have something to learn.
I believe the important thing is to take a stand that coincides with how you want things to go. If you think society is fine as it is and is going in a good direction, take that one. If you think we need change, go with that one.
Take a stand that makes sense with respect to everything you have learned about reality so far. When new information comes that doesn't mesh, adjust your stand to see and take in how the new information changes perspective on what you've learned and experienced.
Something that will help is to not stand in one spot until you absolutely cannot deny what is coming. Little steps here and there, to adjust your stance and prepare for what you may face next. Thought tactics. Use your senses, your intuition, your experience. Posture yourself to take in the future as it passes through you and don't become so stiff that it sweeps you away. An umbrella in the wind will be glad to take you anywhere you want to go except where you are, which is in the present. You don't want to have extravagant things hanging on you when the wind comes or they may blow away and you will be running backwards in order to get them back.
You should not be wearing loose clothing. Whatever it is it should fit well, and still look like you. Be well prepared with solid ideas and beliefs.

"That's a real good thing what Anthony did. It's a good life."
I saw a truck on I-89 here in Vermont advertising this website. I have my own thoughts here, but I thought it would be fun to have the scientists and screwballs comment.😀

The video is funny, measuring gas out of a dixie cup with a stop watch that they don't even know how to work, 12.1 "Amps" measured on the battery (latter corrected). Very convincing.
I doubt any of us are safe as we are. We'll all have something to learn.
I was just wondering, if when the time comes, and we all all accept that free energy is real, KBK will then be warning us about the fraud of the whole thing.

In my 50 some odd years I've watched many predictions of the world ending: California breaking off into the Pacific, Y2K, and now we're onto the next gloom and doom scenario. My kids tell me it's all gonna end in 2012 and now I'm reading inuendos of doom on the DIY Audio site!
I was kinda interested in DIY audio... At least I'll be building my next preamp and listening to good music when the end comes.

Mike, I may have misinterpreted your comment but this is really the only place here that you will find this kind of discussion as this is the only place here (from what I know) that it has or has been allowed too perpetuate. DIYAudio has much to offer other than what is here. This thread is not worthy to be used as a 'first impression' of the forums.
At any rate,
I will speak here from what I have been reading, as some might find it in the least, interesting.
However I do not wish to receive criticism aimed at me and in all likelyhood, I will not be willing to perpetuate such arguments. I do believe, to a degree, what I read about the 'new age' drama. I have received what I hold to be indisputable evidence from firsthand experiences that much of what I have been learning is true, and that much of what some will have you believe, is not. You must find the truth for yourself, and all others can do for you is furnish information, be it what they believe to be true, or what they know is not true. I won't claim much as true, I will expect you if you are interested to put together the pieces as you see fit.
According to some sources, the reason for all the 'end of the world' predictions is because those at the 'top' of the scheme want the more far-going of us to believe that it is normal for the world to explode, go into an ice age, be swallowed by the sun, or other interesting theories.
My sources indicate that at one point, we will all have to make a decision, and that will determine the course of our history. I am quite confident that whatever happens, we will be able to pull through successfully.
If asked, I will provide my sources. But after that point, I would rather that those interested rather than asking me, read the material for themselves and investigate on their own behalves.
I am not in a position to act as a relay, as I would likely be violating copyright laws if I really tried to provide sufficient coverage of my sources.
I might provide some information, but only insofar as can be done without acting as a source of confusion more than one of real possible effect.
I believe that our purpose is to unite, not to divide, and that argument will most likely result in the latter. No matter our views, divided we are far less strong than as a whole.

Hi,
You didn't misinterpret my comment, but you have to at least acknowledge my point; this is a DIY audio site. There are enough, as you've indicated, sources for information on these predictions and theories.
It's just an observation.
Mike.
