that looks promising tbh, wonder how it really performs.

Hog scoop is proven design however, it really shines and produces insane bass with right drivers. Bad thing is that horn subwoofers can be tricky for indoor duty. They may work, or may not work at all! Outdoors, one of the best subs I have heard.

Full size scoops (especially HOG) are designed for 30-80Hz sub-bass only. You need a separate mid bass section from 90Hz and up.

Trying to get same result/sim image 1-4. This is a big boy.

5-8 hornresp'fun ^^ TH 25 liters less, and a lot complexity added, front + back chamber, + big output pseudo low pass/smoothing mouth (roar like). But with such a volume allowed... 🙂
No improvment in low range but a lot easier to deal with in the 50-200hz crossing region.
Fun, ok. Realistic ? 🙄

To really rip this to shreds you would need a dimension drawing and the Hornresp input screen that produced the sim output - Other wise you are just looking at pictures that are not giving away much information...

Exactly.
My point was just to show that hornresp can allow more than a old school scoop, with something that were still going in the same direction. I simulated only because i was tired at work, and got some spare time to play with hornresp. It is not optimised at all.
Depending on experience/skill/motivation/time (...) it can be, or not, interesting to try diy something personal, starting it from it own hornresp sim. And even before, it would have to start by measuring driver parameter are needed (semi-Le !).

Maybe it's just me but the two sims in post #6 look very similar. I believe the TH was 25L smaller (not a whole lot). So an "old school" scoop runs neck to neck with Hornresp sim'ed TH?

Interesting!

Someone awhile back was proposing that given enough cab space any alignment can be made to match any other. Perhaps they weren't to far off base.

Given what I've seen so far on this thread, the OP's scoop looks pretty good.

Changes

Some wasted space at the base of the horn. Pathway rework in dimensions only, should fix this and increase horn size. Use a kerf-and-bend technique to form at least the bottom mouth wall. Why not use the entire extent of a plywood sheet and make the horn even larger. The attached drawing demonstrates this type of design. However this horn is intended for big commercial venues and will not fit into a typical home. WHG
