those pesky fcc cables

so like many others out there i went out and bought an lcd monitor to attempt the projector project from tom's hardware.com and have run into the ffc cable extension problem. I have searched all over and found several links to where I can buy ffc cables (mainly https://secure.lumenlab.com/shop/group.php?id=6) but I was curious. The ffc cables for sale all seem to have male-male ends. If I am to extend the ffc cable from my lcd I need the correct ffc female-male cable. Anybody have any ideas where I can get these or where I could get a female-female ffc cable coupler. I am trying to fix my lcd issues hopefully without having to solder since that would definitly mess things up for me - I aint that good at soldering. thanks for any help you guys can provide

male/female FFC cables

diybuildergroup.com has some of those M/F extenders you can buy, or you can go elsewhere to buy a cable and a ZIF socket. Then you push two cables into the zif socket (conductors facing each other) before you close it.

Most cables and sockets are at mouser.com. I think it's page 901 of their online catalog. Just search for "FFC/FPC Molex". Then find the link to the catalog page to see them all. I like the vertical ZIF sockets because they close very well with two cables.
