Last week, after a long while of selecting a turntable, I bought a Thorens td125 mkII.
I started noticing that the motor slows down randomly and starts back up again..I figured it might be a power-source problem or something. But anyways this happened today except it didn't start back up again for about 5 minutes. When I got it working again I noticed that the right channel totally stopped working. The only way to get a sound out of it is by putting the volume on my marantz 2235 to full and then i'll get a tiny bit of sound out of it.
It's not a problem with the speakers or 2235 because i can listen to the radio with both speakers just fine.
What could be the problem here?

Re the motor: play with the speed controller. If too far to one side, it sometimes causes the motor controller to fail. Look to download the manual - you can check out the circuit controlling the motor.
The problem with your channel is likely a bad connection at the headshell or at the output connectors.
Sometimes the tonearm cable is damaged. Check the continuity.

You should probably replace all of the electrolytic caps in the controller if it has not been done already.
Check the small film caps to make sure they are ok, if they are leaky the weinbridge oscillator will malfunction.
Finally check all of the pots for intermittent contacts.
I have a TD125 MKI that I have owned for about 6yrs now, and rebuilt a couple of years ago. Works like a charm..
