This tweeter location, pros and cons?

I found vintage German speakers, Braun L300, locating their tweeters in front of the woofers. I’d like to know advantages and disadvantages of this design. For me, I think the advantage is similar to the coaxial speakers but this should be better in the aspect of better dispersion than the traditional coaxial—tweeter isn’t located at the same plane as the woofer’s voice coil, so it isn’t limited radiation by the woofer’s cone. However, the sound wave radiation of the woofer may suffer due to the obstructing tweeter unit in front of it. But, that shouldn’t be a problem if the woofer is crossed so low frequency i.e. using it below 500Hz in a 3-way configuration, is this correct? What else about the advantages and disadvantages, please?

You always have weird chancellations with the woofer and strong edge reflections from the faceplate of the tweeter. But adding a midrange ... you can cut the tweeter higher and lf driver lower to avoid these problems.
You only miss THE point of the construction - a coaxial design ;-)
