Maybe not large in driver size, but damn loud
Dillinja & Lemon D, two drum'n'bass artists who own a label together put together the Valve Sound System.

"Four years down the line and Valve rolls in at 100K (a regular system reaches 30K), stands at 18 ft wide and 10 ft high with six speaker boxes and 60 bass bins. It takes three 7 1/2 tonne lorries to transport the beast and twelve men two hours so set it up. It's simply mind blowing and it's not even finished yet. "We've been fighting non-stop to raise money to get this thing done," says Lemon D aka Kevin. "We've spent well over £70,000 so far and we're still working on the high-end frequencies." But, of course, it is the low ones that they're most bothered about. They even named it after the old valve powered amps found in the scoop bins that gave the original reggae systems like Jah Shaka and King Tubby their deep, warm bass. "There's nothing that compares to us now though," says Dillinja. "I've gone back and listened to Shaka and they haven't got as much power as we've got. We don't even turn it up all the way or it really would be ridiculous." "

here is a pic of the two standing next to part/all of it.

No idea what labhorns are sorry...
but I did see some horn loaded speakers in people's houses, and they looked really large. Would be hard to get them in and out of venues, lifting them off trucks etc. since it does tour with them.

What's the freq. response like on these labhorns? I think horns are really high sensitivty and output yeah?

I just did a search and I read your reply to
There is one potentially negative aspect about the horn subs. Some musical styles actually incorporate the harmonic distortion that direct radiator subs create and it is possible the horn subs clean sound will not satisify that style. Other than that there is no reason why I would want anything other than a horn loaded sub.
It sounds that would drum'n'bass would sound rather flat on a labhorn. I know when I listen to drum'n'bass loud, certain notes are just realllllly loud. It's awesome...

i believe (but i could be wrong. its a late night 🙂 ) the man with the bored look on his face is Richard Clark, a controversial man in the car audio industry. very knowledgable, just not liked by many of the "audiophiles". but once again, i could be wrong. but i have seen that pic before and his name associated with it

Yeah that is Richard Clark in that picture.

And you are right on the mark by saying he is not very well liked by very many audiophiles.
😉

He has a 10 thousand dollar challenge saying their is no audible difference between two amplifiers of any type being driven within their audible frequency ranges. You even get to control the test yourself and pick the music. 🙂 Thats why many audiophiles don't like him, they think hes full of crap or something I guess. 😕

the Labhorn is 100cmx100cmx50cm approx,

plays to 30hz ,and you can stack them ofcourse for flatter reponse,,

i think many people are blown away by the transients of horn subs.and if ur music doesnt have in built speaker distortion, thats good cos every speaker wil make different distortion.

I dont have a LABhorn cos im poor, cant afford the 2x12inch drivers to be shipped to my country, and im not a woodworker.

But the output, efficiency is high..check the forum at that site above, and see what ppl say,,some have saved space and subs cos they went lab instead of ported.

103db+ efficient or so

(i listen to concord dawn)-morning light

🙂 😎
