Hi
I've been thinking about a small 2 way build using the 18 sound 6ND430 and a BMS 4538-8, I have the CD to hand and can get the 18 sound unit at a reasonable price.
What horn would you chaps recommend? I would probably be aiming to cross at 1900hz or so..
Thanks

I like constant-directivity waveguides, but also think Tractrix sounds pretty clean, but you're looking at two very different in-room behaviors. Perhaps a 8" or 6" SEOS for the former, or Faital STH100 for the later.
Hi
Thanks for the reply. I've seen the 6" SEOS and it looks great, but I'm in the UK so getting hold of one may be an issue. Unless someone know's where to source them over here?

The small Faital Tractrix looks like it could be good too, probably easier for you to get a hold of. It should load your driver better at a given lower cutoff, but it'll get beamy as frequency increases, much like a direct-radiator, somewhat removing the room's contribution to the sound. Depends what you're going for and prefer subjectively.
Hi, I should have mentioned the application, these will be used in a home theater environment, with the new 3D audio formats I will be putting these in the ceiling, maybe as an IB design.
I'm not sure what beam pattern from the CD would be best for this application but I would say an elliptical output may be preferred to cover the seating?

The Dayton Audio H07E is an elliptical waveguide. You'll need an adapter though because it's a screw mount.
Another one worth considering is the B&C ME10. This one is 2-bolt mounting but it's a Hyperbolic cosine flare.

Constant directivity might be a safer bet for HT use. Maybe the 18sound XT120 waveguide could work. I don't know if it has throat diffraction like the XT1086, which is best avoided.
