I used to have a handheld one, that ran a KSN1005 piezo to the edge of destruction. 4” coil CDs can be a lot louder, especially with a high directivity index horn. The business end will make the victim feel like he’s being hit in the head with a hammer. 100W of that causes more pain than 10kW of bass (Even horn loaded bass). Such a setup is also incredibly sensitive as a long range microphone.
 
... but after finding out that this could actually get me into much more trouble...
I even wonder about the videos online where they rig a shotgun blank to go off when the person grabs the package off their patio.
