Hi,
really getting into building the aleph5 and I was wondering what thickness the baseplate should be.
My setup:
2 500 VA trafo's (8 kg)
small stuff (2-3 kg)
the dimensions are 29,6 x 26,2 cm.
Is 4 mm Al thick enoug to withstand bending (the heatsink will be axially mounted with L-bars) because I can order this quite ease and any thicker is problematic 😕 .

should be just fine!
mine is 2mm aluminium.... (Aleph 30)

I also used L-bars to assemble the chassis, -it really mekes it a lot more rigid..
I also have a 600VA toriod mounted on the 2mm frontplate..
😉

doesn't matter!
if you build it like mine and

the L-profiles helps alot.
If you don't think it's stiff enough, you could also incude some braces (more 4mm Al?) across the bottom under the toroids.

I am using 4mm 6061 aluminum for my chassis with heatsinks mounted to it and it is very solid. I placed 2 - 7kg transformers and it didn't even bend.
