These grill frames from parts express?

I have used them for sub-woofers, they work fine for that but they are too bulky for anything smaller than a 10 inch driver. For two-way and three-way speakers I use 1/8 hardboard. It is cheap and thin, I just cut the speaker holes by stacking the hardboard on top of the baffle when I route the speaker holes. I use rare earth magnets buried in the baffles and glued to the hardboard for mounting, works great and looks nice. I used to get the magnets from Parts Express, but they are cheaper on Amazon.

I used them for my Heathkit Legattos. Worked fine although attaching the speaker cloth was a challenge for me mostly due to my inexperience. I also used some round neodymium magnets mounted in the frame and screw-heads in the cabs for attachment. Looks OK from the front side.
